On this episode we sit down and chat about the old Orange County Fair grounds concert series of the 1980’s and 90’s ( you know they are rocking when its summer in Middletown ! ) the warm summer nights and the legendary bands at the historic fairgrounds and Speedway ! from Metallica to Ozzy to Judas Priest , the Allman Brothers , Santana , Yes , Heart , Whitesnake , Kiss and many more a little bit about the Fairgrounds ! the Orange County Fair grounds here in Middletown New York operating as a fair since 1843, the speedway was built in 1857 as a horse racing track and held its first auto race in 1919 . they still hold auto races weekly during the summer months along with the annual fair . along with a newly constructed motocross track , car shows and rodeos also are held in 2018 Chris Larsen leased the fairgrounds and brought back concerts and refurbished the grounds in 2020 Brett Hearn was hired to be the general manager of the facility , Brett is the all time leading driver in feature wins at the track in a career that started in the late 1970’s . he still races occasionally nationally.
